Toyota, Ford, Honda Mobility Program

There are rebates up to $1000 for the cost of installing adaptive driving aids or mobility assistance equipment in new vehicles.


Dodge, Chrysler Mobility Program

There are rebates up to $750 for the cost of installing adaptive driving aids or mobility assistance equipment in new vehicles.



GOVERNMENT REBATES

Federal Excise Gasoline Tax Refund Program

People with permanent mobility challenges who are medically certified as being unable to use public transportation, are eligible to receive a refund on a portion of the federal excise tax on gas. The rate used to decide this refund is $0.015 per litre or $0.0015 per kilometre. The gasoline must be for personal use only.

Federal Income Tax: Eligible Medical Expenses

People with disabilities may claim a modified vehicle as a medical expense. 20% of the amount paid for a van that has been previously adapted, or is adapted within 6 months after the van was bought (minus the cost of adapting the van), to transport a person who needs to use a wheelchair, to a limit of $5,000.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

NOVA Funding

This program is directed to individuals with disabilities who have secured the majority of the money needed to fund vehicle modification products and just need some additional help to reach their goal.  During each funding cycle, grants are awarded to eligible, selected individuals for up to 25% of the cost of the mobility transportation equipment with a maximum award of $5,000.

MS Society

The MS Society of Canada (MS Society) offers Quality of Life Grants to people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). These grants support the purchase of equipment. The maximum, annual amount of funding is $1,000 per applicant per the calendar year.

Burns Memorial Fund/Watson Family Foundation Fund

This assistance is made possible by the Watson Family Foundation and the Calgary Foundation. Grants are available to improve and sustain the quality of life for special needs children in low-income families by providing funds for services and equipment.

Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s Equipment Program provides encouragement to individuals impacted by neuromuscular disorders.

D.R.E.S. assist those who are working and require an accessible vehicle to assist them while they are at work.

Cerebral Palsy Association Of Alberta

In order to apply for funding through the Cerebral Palsy Association you must meet their requirements. The CPAA funds up to 750.00 towards Accessible Van Conversions.

Some Service Clubs may provide funding for individuals who are buying wheelchair accessible vans. Please call your local club to determine if they can help.
